Visions For The Future: The
Heart To Heart school's vision is to help break the
chains of poverty that ensnare the young men and women
of Haiti, to produce capable Christian community
leaders. The school will send out its trained
staff to build and equip the school programs in the
associated satellite churches.
Heart To
Heart is continuing to expand its ministry and services
into the local community and to other areas of Haiti.
We are committed to providing adult literacy programs,
health and dental care services, English language
classes, and trade and employment training and
opportunities. |

How We Began: Luc Honorat
was born the son of a High Voodoo Priest, but he himself
became a Christian under the care of a pastor. During
his many years as a junior pastor at a large church and
orphanage located in Grand Goave, Luc was told he would
one day take over as senior pastor. When the existing
senior pastor passed away, his grown sons forced Luc &
the orphans out of the church.
Luc and his wife Michelle took the 40 orphans into their own home.
Their small, 1200sqft. bungalow quickly became the
children's home and school. Church was held under a
tree in their neighbor’s yard.
One year prior to Luc’s departure, Claire Roberts had travelled to
Haiti, met Luc and followed God’s calling to help. She
took pictures of several orphans and brought them home
with her to Alberta where she quickly found sponsors.
Claire and Living Waters Church spread the word about
Luc and Michelle and before long a group of people in
British Columbia joined their efforts to help Luc’s
rapidly growing household. A friendship formed and grew
into a partnership that was named Heart To Heart.
Today, H2H is a Christ-centered, registered charitable
organization. In 1995, a land purchase in a partnership
with monthly sponsors, donors, and the Canadian
International Development Agency (CIDA) allowed H2H to
build a school, a children's home, a feeding centre, a
community well, and a power generating system.
American, Canadian, and Haitian donors have also built a church on
the property. The school reaches out past the walls
that surround it to educate the neighbouring families by
providing elementary school education, adult literacy,
sewing and English classes.
Enrolment at the elementary school has grown from 200 to 350
students. The students are fed a nutritious lunch each
day and in most cases, this is the only food most of the
kids will eat. They are also given a school uniform and
provided with textbooks and supplies. |
